3 Confidence Boosters That You Don't Need Confidence to Pull Off

Confidence is the single best way to present a positive and powerful persona to the rest of the world. It doesn't matter if you're a stay at home parent, or a CEO, your kids and your employees can smell fear like sharks can detect blood in the water, and once they realize you're not 100% confident, your authority is severely undermined. It's not just about authority; confidence is something that you can fake until you have it, as long as you have a little bit of help. Occasionally everyone needs a little confidence booster, and so here we'll discuss several easy and fast ways to get your confidence sky high.

Wardrobe Refresh

A wardrobe refresh can be a great confidence booster. This certainly doesn't have to mean tossing your existing wardrobe and implementing an entirely new one. What this does mean is that you should take the time to go through what you already own. As you're culling through your current wardrobe you should:

  • Decide what to keep.

  • Decide what to repair.

  • Decide what to replace.

If you haven't worn an item for six months or more, you should consider donating it. Conversely, if you wear an item every week, look closely at how well the item is holding up. Is it time to replace it? Once you've pared down your wardrobe, it's time for the fun part, the shopping! Shop for pieces to replace what has worn out, but also search for timeless pieces like a well fitting a line skirt, a cashmere sweater, a classic white shirt and a trench coat. These pieces can help you develop a confident wardrobe by emphasizing your best features.

Daily Gratitude

It has been scientifically proven that those of us who take the time out of our day to truly focus on and enjoy the good things we have in life are happier and more comfortable in ourselves. Make some time every day to think about your accomplishments, your goals and what you are grateful for. This exercise can leave us more focused and more confident in our past and our decisions going forward.

Try to set aside a few structured minutes a day with a gratitude journal, jar or even a gratitude app on your smartphone, to create some thank yous for each. Concentrate on being grateful for new things each day, and concentrate on giving yourself credit for these accomplishments and gifts. You deserve these great things, and you deserve more of them, too!

Defensive Driving

Defensive driving is a concept that encourages you to drive in a way that protects yourself. If you take this approach to your personal and professional life, you be giving yourself permission to say no and truly prioritize what is important to you in your life, whether that is family, career, health or all of the above. Taking care to not give attention to those in your life that engage in negative behavior can take power away from these people. You are the one who gets to decide what expectations are put upon you, and you are the one who teaches others how to treat you. Developing this kind of no-nonsense mindset teaches you and those around you that you are worthy of respect, positive attention and capable enough to build your destiny.

Whether you decide to give your wardrobe a makeover, or make-over your social circle, we hope that these confidence tips have inspired you to spend some time on yourself, because that can be the most confidence building practice of all!
